Ballyclare Comrades can announce that forward Michael Leetch has completed a transfer to Premiership side Ballymena United for an undisclosed fee.
Michael worked his way through the Comrades youth setup and quickly became is a permanent fixture in our Senior Squad, signing his first professional contract with the club in August 2024.
Comrades Manager Nathan McConnell said:
“The club board quickly recognised the huge potential Michael had a long time ago and subsequently made him a professional player knowing at some stage a premier league club could come calling for his services. This has proved to be a wise decision.
Personally from working with Michael over the past few months it has been it was very clear during training and in the games that he possess all the skills and attributes to become a very important player for Ballymena in the coming seasons.
Whilst we are disappointed not to have him for our new NAFL campaign we wish him every success and look forward to seeing him grasping this huge opportunity in his career .”
Ballyclare Comrades Chairman Robert Fleck said:
“It was always obvious that Michael had the potential to develop into a higher level player. We obviously wanted him to do that at Ballyclare Comrades and that’s why we signed him on professional terms two years ago. We’d love to keep him at Ballyclare but this is a great opportunity for him and we wouldn’t want to stand in the way of his progress. We’re proud to have played a significant part in his development and wish him well for the future.”
